Artist's Comments

I've done a lot of cinema-themed work over the last three years, but as much of it was originally designed to be applied (DVD packaging and the like) and doesn't necessarily work on a purely visual level, I've decided to re-tool some of these pieces so you can sear your eyes without being distracted! And, for your convenience, they're in a handy desktop-resolution (1280x1024px) so you can see your favourite...all...day...long!

Just hit download for full size.

(If this isn't a good resolution for you, let me know and I'll see what I can do.)

This is now my computer background.

Awesome! So glad you like it. One for the Darjeeling Limited coming soon.

And thanks for the :+fav:!

There isn't nearly enough appreciation for this movie. Who doesn't love the mental dismantling of Bill Murray in a yellow submarine while The Stooges play in the background?
"Klaus here used to be a bus driver."

So true. I was talking to one of the guys at work today about Wes Anderson, and we were trying to decide which of his films we thought was his best. I mentioned that I had just seen The Darjeeling Limited and found it much more deep and engaging than a lot of people; he went for Tenenbaums. Then I remembered The Life Aquatic and thought: "no contest". :D It's a great movie, complex and funny as hell, and I love the duality of it all. I'm never sure whether to be tickled or horrified when Steve turns the tables on the invading pirates!

As much as people love Margot and Royal, I find myself more personally relating to people like Klaus, Steve, and Eleanor. Who hasn't been insecure and dedicated to a project? Who hasn't felt like a failure in the presence of someone like Hennessy? Who hasn't let a bad relationship numbly pass you by?

I loved the Life Aquatic, and this is one of my favorite lines from it, either this or when Klaus says "Thanks... Thanks a lot for not picking me."

lol The last film to actually bring me to the brink of profuse weepage. The final scene, when Steve finally encounters the Jaguar Shark with Sigur Ros playing over the top...enough to erase all traces of maleness in a second flat. :D

Can't even listen to Search & Destroy now without the mirth making me tear up a little. Ha!
